The very best in voice lessons are available to 8 years through Adult at Neighborhood Academy of Music in Clayton. Students are given performance opportunities throughout the year which end with a Recital in late May, early June.
Students who desire, may participate in annual NFMC Festivals, Honors Recitals, Gold Cup auditions, scholarships, and many community service opportunities.
Johnston County Music Association is our local affiliated club. North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs is our state organization.
Beginner Voice Camps, Musical Theatre Camps, Summer Intensive Classes, and summer Voice Lesson mini semesters provide continuing opportunities to explore vocal talents, and learn new techniques.
Proper posture, breathing technique, vocal strength and placement, and learning how to project your best sound are all focused on throughout the lesson time. Presentation and poise are also considered as lessons proceed. In addition, all students will receive information on vocal awareness and vocal health to maintain good habits in singing and protecting the vocal mechanism. Basic music theory is included as a part of lessons periodically and can have a stronger focus if parent/student desires. Students who are interested in pursuing musical theatre auditions will be encouraged to prepared an audition book.
All students prepare vocal selections for presentation at area Christmas Tree Lightings, and potential other festivities in December, the Johnston County Music Association Festival in February/March, Neighborhood Academy Recitals in November and April and our Voice of Clayton NC Recital in May/June. Other singing opportunities are also considered. The February Festival Auditions are conducted as a part of the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals. High School students are also encouraged to compete in the Vocal Arts competition for the Clayton Women's Club in January, and other scholarships.

At Neighborhood Academy of Music students will pay $35.00 per 30 minute lesson, $52.50 per 45 minute lesson and $70.00 per one hour lesson.
Neighborhood Academy of Music requires a $30.00 registration fee due yearly. You may pay the next year's registration fee to secure your fall lesson beginning in mid-spring.
Payments are made in monthly amounts over the school-year and by the lesson or mini semester during the summer. Payments are due the first lesson of the month and late after the 10th of each month.
If you are one month or more late a late fee will be applied of $10.00 per month.
Makeup lessons will be arranged individually. See Minimum Commitments and Makeups section for details. Payment is not to be held due to missed lessons.
A minimum of one month of lessons is requested for new students and a minimum two week notice is preferred if you have to stop.
Make up lessons will be offered when time is available. If you must cancel a lesson, please try to give 24 hours notice to more likely schedule a makeup. Missed lessons due to teacher illness or weather emergencies will be scheduled with Julie Stewart on an individual basis. Emergencies will be considered on a case by case basis.
